Goals

Identify barriers to the academic success and smooth transition
of Army children/youth and develop solutions to barriers.

Promote parent and community involvement in youth education.

Develop and coordinate Partners in Education (PIE) initiatives.

Provide Army parents the tools to overcome obstacles to academic
success that children, encounter as a result of the military
lifestyle.

Educate local schools and communities about the needs of
military children/youth and the military lifestyle.
In-Processing
J
Soldiers are briefed on Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) as
part of their in-processing.
J
Soldiers with children/youth (infant to age 18) will in-process
through CYSS School Liaison Services (SLS) for an explanation of
childcare options, educational options, services of the School
Liaison Officers (SLOs), as well as other services provided
through CYSS.
Out-Processing
J
Soldiers with children (infant to age 18) will out-process
through Child, Youth & School (CYSS) School Liaison Services
(SLS) for an explanation of services available to ease the
childcare/educational transition, transferring of CYSS records,
and School Liaison Officer (SLO) contact information for the
gaining installation.
J
Soldiers withdrawing children from local school will ensures
that school accounts are cleared, informs the current school to
prepare the child’s cumulative record, and ensures that the
receiving school can begin new enrollment.
